Lodge of Warwick 8011

Our Lodge Profile.

Integrity - Friendship - Respect - Service

The Lodge of Warwick was formed and consecrated in 1965 and generally draws its members from within a 15 miles radius.  There ARE exceptions, 1 member lives in New Zealand, (we don’t get to see him very often!) another 2 in Cheshire and at present another member will be working out of the country for the foreseeable future.  We currently have 21 members with an age range of 23 to 88.  The average age of the members is reducing which is a trend we would like to see continue, with a fair ethnic blend having attracted Asian and Brazilian members in recent years.

Our Lodge is keen to attract new candidates, and members joining from other Lodges.     New members seem to enjoy their membership as losses other than for work commitments or relocation are few, this indicating that we maintain a warm, welcoming, happy and friendly atmosphere whilst ensuring that our new members do not feel left out or marginalised in any way.

Our Lodge meets 7 times a year, on the 2nd. Wednesday of the month between October and April, at Alderson House (a lovely Georgian building) in the middle of Warwick, with its own free car park.  Meetings normally start at 6.15, our dress code is dark business suit making it easier to come direct from the workplace without having to go home and change first.  The formal part of the meeting lasts until around 7.30 and afterwards we have a very convivial 3 course dinner, usually ending between 9.30 and 10 o’clock.

We also hold an informal Masonic teaching class, which whilst not compulsory, we do recommend to all new members as an excellent means of getting to know others and more about the Lodge.  This meets at 7.30 on the Monday preceding the Lodge meeting, except for July, August and December.

We have  an active social side to our Lodge where family and friends are encouraged to attend and welcomed.  For instance, we hold an informal Scottish night in January, there is always a Christmas Party, at least one Sunday lunch, often two and fish and chip quiz nights are not unknown.  We are always looking for ideas for different functions, particularly those that enable members with younger children to attend.  Our meeting place, Alderson House, also hosts social events and again all are encouraged to attend.  It is very important that our wives or partners support and encourage us in our Freemasonry and thus it is only right and proper that we invite them to share the happy times that we have.

Our Ideal Candidate

Wishing to build our membership, we are keen to welcome new members who should have a sense of humour and enjoy life.  Freemasons meet on the level and all are treated equally.  No matter how high a man may have risen, he must not forget where he started from.  He must be able to commit to a regular attendance at our meetings.  He should be able to afford the financial implications of being a Freemason, including our charitable obligations and that his family would also enjoy him being a Freemason and want to join in with the life and spirit of our Lodge.

The Benefits?      Good fellowship, a sense of belonging, satisfaction in helping others, contribution to your local community and above all making a good man into a better one, for the benefit of all.
